The sixth Sydney Rides Festival, which is Australia’s largest bike festival, will run for three weeks from Tuesday 4 October.

The festival will feature more than 20 events, including speed dating, a chocolate ride, city suit ride, pocket park treasure hunt, night and day adventures, talks, exhibitions, and courses.

The main outdoor event of the festival – Sydney Rides the Park – will be held on Saturday 8 October at Sydney Park, where visitors will be able to watch BMX displays and unicycle ballet, or try yoga.

Also, children will be able to participate in events such as making a pedal-powered smoothie, mountain boarding on the grassy slopes, jumping, kite-making and visiting the pop-up farm.

The Chocolate Ride will be held on 15 October, which would allow bike riders to “eat their way” around the backstreets of Marrickville visiting chocolatiers, gelato manufacturers, patisseries and confectionery wholesalers.

Further, Light the City event will be held on 22 October, where visitors will be able to experience light installations and special effects on a 2.5-kilometre cycling and walking loop.

City of Sydney CEO Monica Barone said that each year, the Sydney Rides Festival brings people together on streets and parks throughout the city.

“The Sydney Rides festival celebrates this city’s love of the outdoors and active living. Whether on foot, or by bike, there’s an event for everyone in this year’s program. The festival is a perfect way for locals and visitors to explore the city’s newest bike paths and routes that make riding a bike an easy, healthy and safe way to travel throughout the local area,” Ms Barone said.
