Northern Beaches will provide new healthcare for the region, with the opening of nine-storey state-of-the-art hospital.

The new Northern Beaches Hospital located in Frenchs Forest will be able to offer free public patient services funded by the NSW Government. Private patient services will also be available.

The NSW Government has partnered with a private healthcare provider Healthscope. NSW Premier and Member for Manly Mike Baird said that the partnership is beneficial because it will build the hospital faster and at less expense to the taxpayer.

Mr Baird was joined with Health Minister Jillian Skinner, Member for Wakehurst Brad Hazzard and Member for Davidson Jonathan O’Dea for the 40-metre summit topping out ceremony on December 13. This is the highest point of the construction.

“I am very excited about this hospital, which shows what can be achieved when the Government partners with an experienced health care provider,” Mrs Skinner said.

“The community will soon have a choice- a choice for free public health care or private health care in a state-of-the-art hospital on the Northern Beaches,” she added.

The hospital is located at the intersection of Warringah Road and Wakehurst Parkway. Within the 6.5-hectare site, it will include 488 beds, 1,400 car spaces, a 50-space emergency department, a helipad, advanced intensive care, 14 operating theatres, critical care units and mental health facility.

Furthermore, it has employed over 700 construction jobs, making almost one million worker hours. It will also employ 1,300 staff for the hospital, becoming the source of employment for many.
