NSW Premier Mike Baird estimates International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney to make a profit of $5 billion over the next 25 years.

ICC Sydney in Darling Harbour opened to the public on December 12 by Mr Baird, Minister for Infrastructure Andrew Constance and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres.

“The mega space will employ 300 full-time staff and 1500 casual workers, and is expected to pump at least $5 billion into the NSW economy over the next 25 years,” Mr Baird said.

There are already 500 major events already booked until 2026. It is quickly becoming Australia’s most desirable business meeting location and exhibition space.

ICC will become the centre of Darling Harbour and will cement Sydney as the first choice for the major events industry.

Mr Ayres said that the building and the events will attract thousands of visitors to Sydney and NSW.

“Imagine opening a restaurant of hotel and having bookings out for a decade. The business confidence in our city and our Government it unprecedented and ICC Sydney is creating new jobs, supporting many industries, hosting more tourists and pouring billions of dollars back into our thriving economy,” he added.

ICC has 2400 tonnes of steel and the Exhibition Halls are equivalent of six football fields, distinguishing itself from previous events halls.
