NSW took initiative to stop child abuse that happens every 15 minutes in Australia.

A new campaign “stop the clock” was launched by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) NSW to raise awareness and prevent child abuse in NSW.

“As a society, we need to safeguard children and young people against all forms of abuse: physical, sexual, psychological, as well as neglect,” Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Pru Goward said.

Stop the Clock is a website that offers resources to doctors and health professionals to identify and assist their response to children and young people at the risk of abuse.

Moreover, it also provides information for children and young people on help and advice. Video interviews and where help can be found near them are some of the resources.

It is a campaign in conjunction with the children’s hospital at Westmead and the Sydney children’s Hospitals Network.

“This campaign is a call to action and a challenge to us all to see, understand and respond to the signs and symptoms of child abuse,” Ms Goward said.
