Transport for NSW announced a new digital L-Plater logbook trial this week.

Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said that a new trial of four logbook apps will be held for 100 Western Sydney and regional NSW learner drivers over a six-week period.

These apps include Licence Ready, Learner Journey, Ezy Log and L2P. After feedback reviews, successful apps will be gradually rolled out across NSW later this year.

“It is about time we brought the logbook experience into the 21st century. Parents and kids are sick of having to manually write in 120 hours of driving practice,” Ms Pavey said.

“New innovations to make life easier are being developed every day, and it’s important that government doesn’t stand in the way when it comes to harnessing technology to deliver better products and services for NSW customers,” she added.
The NSW Government said that the apps were designed to assist drivers to comply with all applicable road rules relating to the use of mobile phones in vehicles.

“This is the next exciting step towards creating better, tech-based solutions for customers by working closely with the brightest minds in the technology community,” Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said.

Tester registration of four apps is on a first-come-first-serve basis at the Castle Hill and Maitland Service NSW centres.
All participants will get a free Safer Drivers Course, worth $140 each and 20 hours towards their 120 hours of driving practice.
