Turnbull Government has launched a new resource of primary school lessons that will be available at home for parents and families.

“Learning Potential Resources” will be filled with hundreds of ideas, activities, games and videos suitable for primary school children, to encourage parents to be more involved in their child’s learning.

It supports the Australian Curriculum for primary school and provides a new platform to apply education in everyday home environment.

“This new website gives parents access to the resources that teachers are using in the class room, adapted for the home environment,” Minister for Education and Training Simon Birmingham said.

“Learning Potential Resources shows how to turn everyday activities like cooking, watering the garden or walking the dog into a fun and interactive learning opportunity,” he added.

He emphasised that parental engagement is a key factor in enhancing a child’s learning, furthering the work that teachers do in the home environment.

“Parents are their children’s first teachers and a high level of engagement in their education is absolutely critical to success in the classroom,” Minister Birmingham said.

This is part of the Turnbull Government’s initiative to adapt to the evolving digital technologies and provide engaging ways for children to learn.

Learning Potential Resources has been created by Education Services Australia with the support of the Turnbull Government and can be accessed here: http://www.learningpotential.edu.au.
