New community and cultural precinct will open at Green Square later this year, and residents are invited to preview the site this weekend.

According to the City of Sydney, locals can view the facilities under construction at the former South Sydney Hospital site in Zetland, from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 18 March.

On the day of the tour, City’s project managers, community facilities staff and builders will be on hand to answer questions about the new precinct.

Also, representatives from local water utility Flow Systems will answer questions about Green Square’s stormwater recycling system during the tour.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the facilities were an important addition for Green Square, an area that will soon be home to more than 61,000 people.

“Green Square is one of the fastest growing precincts in Australia, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure it develops into a world-class urban neighbourhood with the services and facilities its residents and workers need,” the Lord Mayor said.

“The City has committed $540 million over the next 10 years to the Green Square town centre, including our new community and cultural precinct that will sit at the heart of the development,” she added.

The facilities that will be on show for the site tour include Joynton Avenue Creative Centre, Banga Community Shed, Waranara Early Education Centre, and Green infrastructure.
