Barangaroo will join this year’s Vivid Sydney as part of the stellar festival, according to the NSW Government.

Vivid Sydney is the world’s largest festival of light, music, and ideas. In 2017, Vivid Sydney will illuminate the city from Friday 26 May to Saturday 17 June, attracting visitors from across the world.

In 2016, 2.3 million people attended Vivid Sydney, which is a 35.4 per cent increase from the previous festival.

“Vivid Sydney returns with its biggest program ever, shining brightly for the first time at Barangaroo, with an illuminated trail of installations weaving through laneways and past the waterfront at the new business district,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

This year, large-scale light installations and projections will be displayed at Barangaroo, Chatswood, Martin Place, Darling Harbour, and Taronga Zoo, plus an expanded trail through the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

Also, Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said that “the sails of the Sydney Opera House will again be illuminated, this year with a spectacular projection of imaginary creatures inspired by insects, plants and the ocean underworld, that will captivate locals and visitors from around the world”.

Further, the event will feature a diverse line of music performances and collaborations, including performances by trailblazing UK electronic dance outfit Goldfrapp, folk-rock masters Fleet Foxes, indie rock band Dappled Cities,  and Grammy Award-winning Jazz singer Dianne Reeves.
