Up to 100 schools and childcare centres in NSW have introduced wristbands for children who suffer from serious asthma and allergy conditions.

The wristband changes colour depending on the condition of the child. It turns green for allergy, blue for asthma, and red for anaphylaxis.

The wristband will allow teachers and carers to recognise and act upon life threatening conditions quickly.
Jarrad and Courtney Dober, the designers and owners of the wristband company “CleverDux”, returned from the United States having competed in a global business competition.

“We conducted research in five schools which showed 97 per cent of teachers could confidently identify student’s conditions when they wore the wristbands, as opposed to only one in 10 when they didn’t,” Jarrad said.

“The research indicated the See & Save system could save five minutes in emergency response time, down to 11 minutes to six minutes, which chould mean the difference between life and death in some serious situations,” he added.

CleverDux was a national finalist in the “MassChallenge”, a start-up competition in NSW.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Small Business, John Barilaro, said that CleverDux is “a great example of a clever NSW company developing an innovative product that can save lives.”
