Chung Yoo-ra, the daughter of the impeached South Korean President Park Geun-hye’s friend Choi Soon-sil will be extradited.

This decision was following the local prosecutor’s office decision to extradite Chung to Seoul for further investigation.

“The (district) court in Aalborg backs the Public Prosecutor’s decision on the extradition of Chung Yoo-ra to South Korea,” a spokesman for the prosecutor said.

The upheld decision by the Danish court was made on Wednesday, but it is still uncertain whether Chung will be extradited to Seoul as she appealed to the higher court.

Chung is accused of receiving inappropriate academic and financial favours based on Choi’s connections with Park.

Choi have been accused and was found guilty of abusing power and taking bribes from Samsung Group and other S. Korean conglomerates to their false charity organisation.

Moreover, she has been charged with meddling in state affairs and amassing profits through her connections.

Chung has refused to return to S. Korea in January, and was arrested by the local authorities to be in custody until the trial.

Relating to the scandal related to Chung, former and current professors and Ewha Womans University have been arrested and indicted for undue favours.

Park, the former S. Korea President has also been indicted and been in custody for involving her friend Choi and former aids since March 21.
