More than 200 extra train services will be provided every week on the T2 Airport Line, according to Transport for NSW.
Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the ‘More Train, More Services’ program would provide doubled train services to the Domestic and International Airport stations from four to eight services per hour during the day on weekends.

Also, with extra services on weekdays late at night, trains will be running every 15 minutes instead of the current 20 to 30-minute term.
Mr Constance said with an unprecedented growth in passenger numbers, “it’s clear that more and more people are choosing the train to and from the airport, so we need to move fast to cater for this growth”.

“In 2014 there were 6.2 million customer journeys to and from Domestic and International Airport stations. Since then, there has been an extra one million customer journeys to and from the Airport each year a 32 per cent increase in patronage. Weekend patronage has grown even more ? shooting up 42 per cent,” he said.

The government expects that access to the airport would be further improved with $500 million funds in major road upgrades in and around the airport and other solutions such as the WestConnex.

“Extra train services will complement this work, and provide plane passengers, airport and airline workers with better options to access both Sydney Airport and the city,” Mr Constance said.

The announced services improvements will be implemented from late 2017.
