Chung Yoo-ra, the daughter of Choi Soon-sil, has dropped the appeal of her extradition case from Denmark to Seoul.

As the daughter of the key figure in the South Korean political corruption scandal, Chung is also accused of receiving inappropriate academic and financial favours based on her mother’s ties with the former South Korean President Park Geun-hye.

Danish prosecutors confirmed that Chung has dropped her appeal to the High Court to Western Denmark.

“Decision to extradite Korean Ms. Chung is now final,” the Danish court announced on Twitter. “She has cancelled her appeal to the High Court.”

They added that the extradition date has not been set.

However, according to Danish prosecutors, the hearing on Chung will be on 8 June and Chung’s extradition date will be within 30 days.

Her lawyer Michael Juul Erikson stated that Chung’s main fear in her extradition was losing contact with her infant son.

According to Chung, Korean authorities have “pressured” and “threatened” Chung in collaborating in the case.

Eriksen argued that Chung has not committed any crime and the extradition was politically motivated.

The reason for Chung dropping the appeal has not been stated.

Chung was detained in Denmark on 1 January, as she overstayed her visa and a warrant was issued by South Korean authorities for her arrest.

The Danish public prosecution authority approved her extradition in March “for the purpose of prosecution in her home country.”
