The second stage of the Social and Affordable Housing Fund (SAHF) has been announced to deliver 1200 more social and affordable housing in NSW.

This is the second part of the stage one, where five partners from private and non-for-profit sectors were to deliver 2200 homes in metropolitan and regional NSW in March 2017.
The recently announced stage will provide more homes and ensure residents are connected to transport, jobs, education and support services.

Minister for Social Housing Pru Goward said this was an innovative approach to address the increasing number of people in housing stress or experiencing crisis.

“By embracing innovative and collaborative approaches by the non-government and private sectors to provide holistic housing services, we are helping people break the cycle of disadvantage and work towards greater independence,” Ms Goward said.

The $1.1 billion fund will allow a combination of 3400 new social and affordable dwellings in NSW.
The $1.1 billion in seed capital was invested by the NSW Treasury Corporation, and further capital will be available for the second phase procurement outcome.

The 70 per cent of 1200 new accommodation will be social housing clients. An estimated rate of 30 per cent of the dwellings will be in regional NSW.

The process has encouraged proposals aimed at supporting older women.
