New and lower cost CTP Green Slip scheme have begun this week, allowing NSW drivers to save up to $172 per year.

From 1 December, NSW driver’s average premium will be reduced from $654 to $543, and $414 for country motorists.

Sydney taxi drivers will also receive savings from $8,836 to $5,007, and country taxis from $5,203 to $2.923.

“The overwhelming majority can expect to see a significant reduction on their next bill,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

She added that the best way to find the lowest price is by using the Green Slip Price Check website.

A new safety net has also been introduced in the new scheme, as all injured road users will now receive benefits for loss of income and medical expenses for up to six months.

Moreover, a lump sum compensation will be retained for those with long-term injuries.
In addition, refunds for motorists who have already paid their premium in 2017, will also be issued.

“We are also delivering refunds to eligible motorists who renewed their Green Slip during 2017. They will be delivered through Service NSW, with further announcements about the process expected shortly,” Ms Berejiklian said.

Sydney motorists will receive a larger refund if they paid closer to 1 December 2017. An average of $70 will be refunded, and $30 for country drivers.
