The Allianz and ANZ stadiums will be upgraded to attract global sporting events to Sydney.
A new 75,000-seat rectangular stadium will replace ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park. The construction is to start in 2019 and be completed by 2022.

In addition, a new 45,000-seat stadium will replace Allianz Stadium by 2021 at Moore Park. The construction is to begin next year.

The upgrades will allow NSW to transform the venues into world-class facilities, attracting global sporting and entertainment events.

The events include FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Rugby World Cup and NRL Grand Finals.
The NRL Grand Finals is expected to be in Sydney for the next 25 years.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the new stadiums will bring fans closer to the action.
“To compete globally and attract national and international events, our stadiums must have the most modern facilities that offer a great experience for fans,” Ms Berejiklian said.

The stadiums will include advanced technology and steep seating to create a colosseum-inspired wall.

Fans will be able to enjoy the NRL team at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2020 due to the two stadium constructions.

However, upon completion, the NRL Grand Final will be held at Allianz Stadium in 2021 and 2022, and at ANZ Stadium from 2023 to 2044.
