Children in Sydney can learn to ride at free bike clinics these summer school holidays.
According to the City of Sydney, expert instructors will help parents teach their children to ride at Sydney Park Cycling Centre.

Free balance bike clinics will run during the summer school holidays from 11am to 3pm Monday to Saturday from 8 January to Thursday 25 January.

“In the past year, 3,935 children have learnt to ride at our Sydney Park cycling clinics. Riding a bike is a rite of passage for many children and can open the door to a healthy, active and independent lifestyle,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“Summer is a great time to get outdoors and spend time together and the bike track at Sydney Park provides a safe haven for families to encourage their kids into a lifetime of happy riding,” she added.

No registration is required for the clinics, and balance bikes and helmets will be provided for children aged three to eight.

Balance bikes, which do not have pedals or training wheels, are designed to improve children’s balance and coordination as they use their feet to propel and stop themselves.
For older children, five kilometres of shared paths around the park will be available to provide a traffic-free environment to explore on two wheels, with family-friendly BBQ facilities and picnic points along the way.
