Sydneysiders will be able to get their hands on more than 5000 pots of floral and edible blooms at the city this week, following the conclusion of the City of Sydney’s Living Colour displays.

All plants will be either given away, or replanted in schools, day care centres, community gardens, and parks.

The main giveaway event will be at the Sydney Park from 8am on Sunday 11 March. Other events will be held at the Town Hall House, Glebe Library, Kings Cross Neighbourhood Centre, Ultimo Community Centre, Pyrmont Community Centre, Redfern Neighbourhood Centre, and Green Square Neighbourhood Centre.

“The main giveaway event at Sydney Park is incredibly popular- every single one of the 4000 plants found a new home within an hour at the last giveaway. I encourage green thumbs to get there early to avoid disappointment,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“Take your pick from a variety of plants including rosemary, mint, thyme, marigold, coleus, westringia, dianella and laurentia,” she added.

Those taking the plants home will be asked to make a gold coin donation to support the RSPCA.

The plants used in the Living Colour displays brightened the City’s most frequently used public spaces this spring and summer. They were placed around the City from January.

“We hope these beautiful plants will brighten up our resident’s backyards, balconies and common areas,” the Lord Mayor said.
