Vivid will return to Sydney from 25 May to 16 June 2018, to celebrate its 10th year.

As part of the lineup, Vivid 2018 will feature outdoor lighting sculptures, and contemporary music program.

Some of the highlights will include an animated projection of the classic Australian children’s book characters Snugglepot and Cuddlepie at the Customs House.

More projections will be available at the Sydney Opera House, featuring artworks by North Coast NSW artists Jonathan Zawada.

Called “Lighting of the Sails”, the projects at the Opera House will include artworks transformed into a series of kinetic digital sculptures.

“I really wanted to take a big picture view of both what Vivid is about, but more importantly, how I feel about Australia as this kind of elemental, timeless place that is also completely new and full of energy,” Jonathan Zawada said.

Moreover, moving installations called “The Spirit of Fun” will be projected on Coney Island at Luna Park.

“Every year we are attracting more and more people to our state because of our world class events,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

“Since 2011 the overnight visitor spend from Vivid Sydney has gone from $6 million to $146 million<” she added.

In addition, TAFE NSW students will have the opportunity to participate in Vivid Sydney by creating lighthouse structures for the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney and a 3D large-scale mapped projection of the Government House.
