Thousands of more buses will be available in Sydney areas including Northern Beaches, Wentworth Point, Penrith, Blacktown, and Lane Cove.

This is following the 2018-19 NSW Budget with a total investment of $15.6 million in the Growth Services Program.

In the next 12 months, 1000 extra weekly buses will be available in Northern Beaches, and 500 extra weekly buses in Western Sydney.

The 1000 extra weekly buses in Northern Beaches will be introduced to improve access to the new hospital and meet the commuter’s growing demand in the Frenchs Forest area.

The 500 extra weekly buses in Western Sydney will be introduced to provide greater travel options for commuters in the morning and afternoon peaks.

Minister for Transport Andrew Constance said that the NSW Government will purchase over 30 new buses and replace 400 buses as part of their initiative in delivering extra bus services.

“Around 20 of these new buses will cater for the increase demand in school services across the state,” Mr Constance said.

Further, Route 553 which includes Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Westworth Point will operate through weekdays and weekends, instead of only during peak periods.

This new initiative will also support new residential developments in the Cameron Park in the Lower Hunter and the Illawarra area in NSW.

“These extra bus services demonstrate once again that this is a Budget which puts people first and delivers for the community,” Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said.
