A new policy making public school uniforms more comfortable and affordable has been announced this week by the NSW Government.

The new two page policy will be more simpler and easy to understand, opposed to the previous policy of 24 pages.

“Back when I was in public school, there was no option. The new modern makeover makes uniforms practical and comfortable for students, with affordability for parents front and center,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

“For families we know every dollar counts and we want to do everything possible to drive down cost of living pressures,” she added.

The new policy will be streamlined to include school items made from easy care fabric, that are both affordable and comfortable.

In addition, it will include options for girls to wear shorts and pants.

“The new clear and concise policy that comes into effect this term is just two pages. Parents asked for a better policy and I am proud to provide one,” Education Minister Rob Stokes said. “It is important to remember that families need to have access to the most affordable uniforms possible.”

Mr Stokes added that the new policy will be popular with schools, students, and especially parents as it is a reflection of their feedback.
