From 30 September, Epping to Chatswood train line will be shut down for its upgrade for the Sydney Metro.

Some major adjustments will include the replacement of the T1 North Shore Line and the T1 Northern Line.

In the T1 North Shore Line, services via the Epping to Chatswood will be replaced with trains from Gordon, Hornsby and Berowra.

In addition, there will be more AM peak hour services to the City for commuters from Mount Kuring-Gai, Mount Colah, Hornsby, and all stations from Wahroonga to Roseville.

For the T1 Northern Line, the current services between Hornsby to the City via Chatswood will be replaced by limited stop services via Strathfield, which will start or terminate at Central during peak times. However, during all other times, trains will connect to Wynyard, Town Hall, and North Shore Stations via Strathfield and Central.

Also, there will be extra services per hour for the morning and evening peak for Rhodes, Meadowbank and West Ryde.

Further, during the upgrade, Station Link buses between Epping to Chatswood will be available every six minutes for all commuters. This will include 120 new buses with pink decals.

Member for Ryde Victor Dominello said the upgrade will provide Epping and Chatswood commuters with “almost four times as many trains an hour as they do now in the peak direction, that’s 15 trains an hour, or one every four minutes”.

Moreover, the express services in the Central Coast and Newcastle Line will be doubled, to accommodate commuters to and from the Sydney CBD via Strathfield during peak times.

There will also be minor adjustments to some services in other lines in Sydney.
