This year’s Vivid Sydney festival is set to begin from today until Saturday 18 June, which will feature numerous light installations and music events.

According to the Minister for Trade, Tourism, Major Events and Sport Stuart Ayres, over 80 light installations, 1,500 hours of programmed music events and 170 creative events will be presented.

With extra five nights added to this year’s Vivid Sydney, the festival will run for 23 days.

“For the first time, the world of Australian Indigenous art will be celebrated on the Sydney Opera House sails, installations will illuminate the Royal Botanic Garden and Taronga Zoo, while our first indoor venue, The Galeries on George Street will also join the Festival,” Mr Ayres said.

“We also have two world-firsts at Darling Harbour with the Vivid Laser-Dragon Water-Theatre’s 13-metre robotic arm, and Intel’s ‘Eyes on the Harbour’ Real Sense water theatre face projection,” Mr Ayres added.
The newly updated Vivid Sydney smartphone app is available for visitors to plan their way around for featured events and programs.

According to Mr Ayres, busiest nights can be avoided by attending the festival early in the week and early in the evening.

“Vivid Sydney’s world-class line up has something to inspire and entertain everyone, from families wanting a night out to visitors looking for new ways to explore the city after dark,” CEO of Destination NSW and Executive Producer of Vivid Sydney Sandra Chipchase said.
