The new McMahons Point ferry wharf has opened up after the completion of upgrades to make public transport more accessible to the customers.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said that “the new floating pontoon will make it easier for less mobile customers to board and disembark ferries and provide improved seating and waiting areas”.

Mr Constance added that the new wharf allows two ferries to “berth simultaneously”, which would improve service reliability and provide more capacity for extra services in the future.

The temporary shuttle bus – route 223 – has now ceased to operate, and the regular F4 Darling Harbour ferry and F3 Parramatta River ferry services now operate to and from the new McMahon’s Point wharf.

Mrs Skinner said McMahons Point is one of 11 wharves around Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River to be upgraded by the NSW Government since 2012.

“We want to encourage people to leave the car at home by making it easier to catch public transport, and we certainly would love to see more people out enjoying our great harbour on board a Sydney Ferry,” Mrs Skinner said.

“I would like to thank the McMahons Point community and our ferry customers for their patience and understanding during construction over the last six months. We are delighted to be able to deliver an important piece of infrastructure that will continue to serve the community for many years to come,” she added.
