Every Wednesday night, top exhibitions and art galleries will be opened to the public.

This is part of the NSW Government’s Arts and Culture Advisory Committee initiative, Culture Up Late, to offer Sydney arts and cultural institutions.

Culture Up Late will be held all through January to February, providing families with points of exploration through summer.

Minister for the Arts Troy Grant said unique arts and entertainment destinations will be available at night for locals and tourists.

“Whether it’s 400 spiders at the Australian Museum, ancient mummies or twilight hours of the Southern Sky at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, this summer offers a weekly opportunity to experience each of these novel exhibitions,” Mr Grant said.

Carriageworks and the Sydney Opera House will take part in showcasing the Sydney Festival.

The Museum of Contemporary Art will be showcasing the installations of contemporary Japanese artist Tatsuo Miyajima.

Other cultural institutions taking part in Culture Up Late include the Art Gallery of NSW, Australian Museum, Museum of Applied Arts, Sydney Observatory and Sciences and the State Library of NSW.
