Commuters in Sydney are reminded of the ongoing construction in the CBD area.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said people travelling in and around Sydney should be aware of the construction with continuation and initiation of major projects.

“We’ve made some great progress and are really pushing on with building vital new infrastructure across Sydney,” Mr Constance said.

“However there’s still a lot more to do and that means some disruption is simply unavoidable,” he added.

Until February, buses will replace the Inner West Light Rail services between Central and the Star as part of construction for the new CBD Light Rail.

Also, phase two of the Wynyard Station upgrade has commenced, and the York Street entrance will be closed until later in 2017.

Moreover, George Street is now closed in both directions between Hunter and Alfred streets for light rail construction. Alternate driving routes are available to access The Rocks.

Further, essential intersection works will be carried out this month for light rail construction including Bridge and Grosvenor streets and Hay Street and George Street in the CBD.

CBD Coordinator General Marg Prendergast said there are also changes to roads across Sydney due to work to a number road upgrade projects.

“Some of the many other road projects across the state start work again tomorrow, so check the Live Traffic website or app to make sure your trip isn’t impacted,” Ms Prendergast said.
