A total of $1.5 million in funding is available for organisations with new initiatives for mental health services in NSW.

Organisations can apply for funding with projects that target innovation in areas of mental health services across NSW, to improve their livelihood.

New initiatives should be in areas of mental health and intellectual disability/ cognitive impairment, aboriginal mental health, mental health and youth homelessness, adult education and child and youth mental health.

The funding provides opportunity for organisations, community and the government to deliver new and innovative ways to help people living with mental illness.

“Collaborating partners may include start-ups, non-government organisations, the private sector, local businesses, carers or individuals working alongside all levels of government,” Minister for Mental Health Tanya Davies said.
“By funding these ideas, we can enhance the way we deliver person-centred care that focuses on consumers, particularly at the community level,” she added.

This is part of the 10-year “Living Well” initiative from the Mental Health Commission to transform mental health services.

The application for the fund will close on Tuesday, 9 May 2017.
