Milsons Point Wharf expansion work will start from Thursday 27 April, according to Transport for NSW.
As part of the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, Milsons Point Wharf upgrade seeks to provide safe and accessible infrastructure across the state.

“The upgrade of Milsons Point Ferry Wharf will be carried out by Roads and Maritime Services. Work will start on Thursday 27 April and take around six months to complete, weather and maritime conditions permitting,” Transport for NSW spokesman said.

“During construction, ferry services and charters will operate from Jeffrey Street Wharf at Kirribilli,” he added.

According to Transport for NSW, a second platform will be provided to the public after the expansion work, which will allow capacity for additional ferry services as well as improved boarding and disembarking process.

Also, the expanded waiting area will provide extra seating areas and improve pedestrian access from the foreshore to the wharf.

Moreover, Transport for NSW said feedbacks from two community information sessions that involved a detailed discussion of the wharf expansion were considered in finalising the design.

Further, the Review of Environmental Factors (REF) was displayed late last year with eight submissions received. The REF and submissions report can be viewed at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/milsons-point-wharf.

Transport for NSW said the temporary closure of the wharf will not affect the timetable for ferry services to other wharves. Customers can plan their trip using the trip planner at transportnsw.info or call Transport Info on 131 500.
