A NSW Productivity Commission was launched this week to improve living standards and lower living costs of everyone who lives in the state.

The Commission will be led by the NSW Productivity Commissioner, as it will focus on economic reforms to drive productivity and improve regulations.

In improving regulations, NSW will make it easier to do business, and make housing more affordable.
“We have laid the foundations for reforms with out state-building infrastructure agenda, but now it’s time for a new wave of growth, to lift the fortunes of our state and its people,” NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said.

Moreover, the commission will focus on ongoing reforms to fuel NSW’s economy, and improve living standards for everyone.

“The commissioner will ensure a user-centered approach to regulation that is responsive to user’s needs and changes in the market,” Mr Perrottet said.

The NSW Commission was modelled after the federal Productivity Commission and will target the state’s biggest problems including housing affordability and cost-of-living pressures.

“This is the biggest strategic shift in decades when it comes to a concentrated focus on productivity in NSW,” Mr Perrottet said. “The NSW Productivity Commission will give us huge momentum to change NSW for the better.”

He added that the commission will also be effective for long-term challenges as the ageing population becomes more apparent.

The Commission aims to make NSW “the easiest state to move to”.
