Traffic changes to the southern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be implemented for all Sydney motorists.

Access to the City North via Grosvenor Street will be accessible through lane 5 at all times.
For the morning commuters going into the CBD will be able to access Grosvenor Street or York Street on lane 4.

These changes for a more direct journey across the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be made once the upgrades to the southern toll plaza precinct are complete.

This work has included removing the existing toll booths, reconfiguring the intersection of York and Grosvenor Streets, making new line marking, adjusting road levels for traffic and bus lanes, and installing new direction signs.

“As with all significant changes, it may take some time for motorists to get used to the new lane alignment so people should allow extra travel time and take care as they drive on the newly upgraded road,” Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said.

She added that for the hundreds and thousands of motorists travelling across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it is important for traffic to be more streamlined and allow easier movements into the city and the Western Distributor.

Minor work will be continued until May as final construction such as asphalting and installing new light poles will be added.
