The Korean-concentrated area in Eastwood will welcome a new branch of Bendigo Bank at the end of this year.

The new branch will take over the place of a local Korean-grocery shop across Aldi supermarket on Rowe Street, Eastwood.

The Australian Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry joined the Eastwood Bendigo Bank managing director Jung Jong-min to conduct a meeting on the progress so far.

Similar to Strathfield, the Eastwood branch will also be part of the Bendigo franchise, and partner with Korean businesses as the major stakeholders.

More than 230 people have expressed their intent to become investors, and 10 Korean businesses are in the steering committee for the branch establishment.

“Bendigo bank is a financial institute that supports local communities with a part of their profit. Last year, they contributed around $180,000,” Managing Director Jung said.

“Once the branch is established in Eastwood, it will play a big part in developing Korean businesses in Australia,” he added.

As of now, the Korean-concentrated area in Eastwood faced inconvenience with the absence of a bank, and a private ATM in the Eastwood Hotel.

Many are welcoming this new opportunity, as banks are a necessity in developing a busy commercial area.

In addition, Ryde Councillor Peter Kim commented on the possibility of a parking lot in Rowe Street, Eastwood, which will allow people to park free for two hours.

The request for a new parking lot construction is under review and will be finalised in June.
