More than 100,000 NSW drivers could claim free vehicle registration depending on their toll usage.

Drivers spending more than $25 per week or $1,300 per year on tolls, will be able to benefit up to $729 in savings.

Drivers in North Western and Western Sydney such as Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, Blacktown, Quakers Hill, Glenwood, West Pennant Hills, and Cherrybrook are expected to benefit the most out of the rebate.
Other suburbs with high rebate rates include Mosman, Maroubra, Randwick, and Beecroft.

“Drivers can simply add their licence plate number to their toll account, then during the registration renewal process, Service NSW will tell you if you get a free car rego,” Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said that the toll spend will be backdated to the last financial year, from 1 July 2017 up to 30 June 2018.

“So far 938 free regos have been claimed and $397,000 has been given back to drivers, with the average driver saving $423,” Mr Dominello said.

Once claimed, drivers will need to use their free rego before 30 June 2019.

The different amounts of registration savings are separated by the weight band of the car.

The savings rate will start off at $277 for cars up to 975kg. This rate will increase to $729 for cars with the weight band between 2505 to 2794kg.

In addition, all registered motorcycles will receive $129 in savings.
