More Australian university graduates are finding jobs within a few months of graduating, according to the 2018 Employer Satisfaction Survey.

72.9 per cent of graduates in 2017 landed full-time employment within four months after completing their degree, which showed an increase of five per cent from 2014.

This was also a rise from the 71.9 per cent rate from the year before.

Overall, 92 per cent of 2017 graduates were in some form of employment, with 37.9 per cent working part-time.

Moreover, 2017 graduates in regional or remote areas were more likely to be employed full-time within four months of graduation with a higher rate of 76.7 per cent, compared to the 71.8 per cent for metropolitan graduates.

In addition, the survey found that the median salary for the full-time graduates was $61,000, slightly up from $60,000 the year before.

“Our Government’s economic management has seen a record number of jobs created and this means more opportunities for university graduates to get a job and kickstart their careers,” Minister for Education Dan Tehan said.

Mr Tehan added that the Government is also providing a record funding of approximately $17.7 billion into Australia’s tertiary sector in 2019.

“The return on that investment is job-ready graduates who can take advantage of the employment opportunities our economy is creating,” Mr Tehan said.

85 per cent of supervisors were satisfied with their graduate employee, which was the highest level ever recorded.

In addition, 92 per cent of supervisors agreed that graduates were ‘very well’ or ‘well’ prepared for employment.
