Managers and Professionals receive the highest average hourly earnings, according to the results from the Survey of Employee Earnings and Hours, released this week by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). 

According to the ABS, Managers and Professionals earn an average hourly rate of $60.40 and $54.00 per hour respectively. 

The lowest average hourly earnings were received by Sales workers with an average earning of $28.50, and Labourers with $29.50. 

Overall, Australian employees earn an average of $39.10 per hour. 

Concerning industries, employees in the Accommodation and food services receive the lowest average hourly earnings with $25.90, while employees in the Mining industry earn the highest with $60.60. 

“Full-time employees, who make up the majority of employees, received an average earnings of $1,699 per week, which would be around $88,000 in annual terms,” the Chief Economist at the ABS, Bruce Hockman said. 

For part-time employees, the weekly average earnings was approximately $1,290. 

Men working full-time received average weekly total cash earnings of $1,810.90 per week, with an average age of 41.1 years. 

Women working full-time earned less with $1,515.60, with an average age of 40.8 years. 

75.1 per cent of male employees and 45.4 per cent of female employees were employed full-time. 

However, women working part-time earned slightly more than men, with $669 compared to $666.
